How often do we asked God " why? " when we find ourselves in dire circumstances, in the difficult situation in suffering and trials . "why oh God is this happening to me.?!"
But what instead of asking "why?" we ask "how?"
How oh Lord, in this difficult situation can I serve you and bring you Glory?
I believe if we are obedient in the how the why will be answered.
Case in point is a Chinese Christian Cheng Jie (listen to the interview on the voice of martyr podcast ) https://www.vomradio.net/episodes/detail/imprisoned-in-china-god-is-with-me-anytime-anywhere
Cheng Jie, whose English name is “Esther,” was the wife of a pastor in China. She and her husband had discussed the idea that he could be arrested and go to prison for his Christian work. They hadn’t believed that she would be targeted by the communist government.
The "why?" came in prison, where she would be a comforter and a witness for those locked up in prison and even to the prison guards. At one point she was locked up with hardened criminals , murderers, because even the prison officials believed she could help these criminals.
How wonderful it is, the way the Lord will use his obedient servants!
Dear friends the how is not easy in the mist of suffering , but as Paul said in
Romans 5:3-5
Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
We have hope, that not only renews us, but build us up and we can in turn share that hope and comfort which was so graciously given to us. For what is faith if it is not tested.
Oh Holy Father
Thank you for the gracious love and comfort that you have showed us through your son Jesus Christ. Please help us in the mist of suffering to ask how we can server you so we can be a light to those around us. Father we pray for our brother is sisters in Christ, whom are in prison, not the Western world prisons where you still have rights, but in prisons that are design to bring maximum suffering. Please oh Lord can you show them comfort in the mist of the suffering and hope in You. Let them never comprise their faith. We also pray for those that persecute them, please Father soften their hearts and open their eyes to the truth.
All Glory To You
Amen
